new home...for my buttons too

Well some of you know that I am moving this Friday. It seems as though a lot of people are moving right now according to the blog-o-sphere. Well this also means an excuse to redecorate. I wanted to share a picture of the new home for my button collection.....I think they will be very happy here in this vintage gumball machine. It is one of those things you come across and say "gotta have it"....Have a great day.

a little chef and a little sass

I was downloading pictures from my camera and came across these shots.

My son whipped himself up some little snacks...Mini Ritz, turkey, and cheese. They look great don't they. Love the kids knives as we call them at our house from Ikea, he loves to be able to cut up his own stuff.

And little miss E looking a little mischievous and innocent all at the same time while sitting across me at my desk writing in her journal.

Have a great day, Hailey

mirror mirror on the wall

dontcha just love how this mirror turned out. It is going to be a limited edition kit available at Scrappy Chic http://www.scrappychiclivonia.com/ during MegaMeet. Graphic45 is one of the lines that Chris will be selling during the show so I have started making samples for the booth.

I used Claudine's paint in Modern Red. For those of you who have not used it yet run out and buy some. It is the best paint I have used. Her products can be found here.

Have a craftylicious weekend, Hailey

super quick mini book

Ok so the desk in my office at lunch does not make the best photo studio but I could not wait to post the pictures of this book. The picture quality of the photos used are very high resolution and look great in person. I printed 8 of my favorite - 8X10 photos from our trip to snowbird. 2 of the pictures were of the trail maps, which is what I used for the front and back covers. For the front of the "2009" I used the same picture of the trail map, cutting out the "009" from the front picture and gluing them separate to the individual pages. However on the BACK of the "2009" it is a solid picture for the entire page and sanded the edges all the way around. See pictures. I added a few rub-ons left over from unused travel packs I had in my stash and an viola a cute mini album with hardly any effort.

PS - I printed the photos at home on my epson using premium glossy photo paper.

just 47 to go

Wow...I can hardly believe that after 47 more hits 3000 people have viewed my blog.
I frequently follow other blog links and have come across some wonderful people, art, and great home decor! So I think to celebrate all of the craftyness, life stories, and words of encouragement that happen from looking at one blog, and then by following that persons links and so on.... I should hold one of these limited edition kits I just put together for Scrappy Chic with a few pieces of vintage flair from 1913-1940's as a give-a-way.

Post one of your favorite blog link as a comment and I will randomly select a winner on Thursday morning.

PS - It has been raining like mad here in lovely Michigan. Here is a shot of my son when I went to tuck him in. He wanted to make sure that he was ready for a flood. I had to pry those suckers off after he fell asleep.

Lesson of the day

Lesson of the day - never create class samples while sleep deprived.

I have been super busy getting prepared to move to my new place at the end of the month...so lots of purging, donating, sorting, and packing. Leaving not much time for crafting. So after long days and the kids are sound asleep I grabbed a diet coke and went to work. Making a sample I was very happy with for my upcoming class which is based upon a canvas posted earlier this month. As I hung the sample on the wall to photograph and send to Chris the owner of Scrappy Chic (click here for more details http://www.scrappychiclivonia.com/)
I started laughing because I did not visit NIAGRA falls......So with no way to fix my typo the following night I created the exact same sample....well almost...
So unless you have flawless spelling the lesson of the day is not to create class samples while sleep deprived! :)

Have a great day, Hailey
PS- I used Claudine Hellmuth's sticky-back canvas as the base for this wall hanging it can be found here... http://www.collageartist.com/claudine_hellmuth_studio.htm

BG POTM March Class

hello students....

I am hoping that this will help your preparation for the March class.....Let me know what you think.

The title reads "It's just a Day" on the upper left, and then says "in my life" on the bottom of the circle. If you click on the picture it should open up larger in another window.
Also, the journaling appears to be typed on the circle paper about 4x4" in size, which I am not sure how they expect us to accomplish this in class : ) I will practice this weekend and if I come up with some thing we can try it in class.

The picture sizes used are

2 circle pictures 4.5" dia

the upper right to pictures are 1 4x4 and 1 4x6. The bottom left pictures are both 4x6.

If you have any questions or comments please post them and I will answer them the best I can.

The kits just arrived at the store and each student will get a 4x6 color photo of the layout to use during class which will help detail the layout.

smurf-tastic

Lets just say that being teased today that having 3 fingers in the same shade a papa smurf was well worth it. Here is a picture of a canvas I started last night. the blank/lighter spot in the center of the canvas will be home to an 8x10 picture. I have several other little bits to add for embellishments but it was bed time. So perhaps after the kids go to bed sometime this week I will get a chance to play some more....Also here is a picture of an old Heidi Swapp flower that I re-purposed to use on a mini book cover for a project at my lss.
